The Uwenami Scholarship Fund was formed in 2018 and BJF raises funds from individuals, institutions, cooperates and others to support children’s education. The of BJF is to help children achieve their potential and in this direction BJF provides financial assistance to arrest the discontinuation of education of talented and meritorious children due to economic hardship, by providing scholarship support for pursuing their academic goals, the best way to an improved quality of life in future
BJF as an organization believes in building the capacity of the local communities to take charge of their lives and effect changes and what better way than supporting academically talented children from very poor families. The demand for education in Kenya is very high and so is the cost but with limited resources BJF is slowly but surely taking the lead in supporting poor children to remain in schools.
Objective of the scholarship
Targeting children aged 5 to 18 years, Uwenami scholarship program is designed to achieve the following
Improve the academic performance of children from poor backgrounds
Enable children to inculcate a sense of self-dependence and confidence in their innate ability and capacities to take on the challenges, the future would hold before them; and
Create an enabling atmosphere by providing equitable opportunities and further the pursuit of excellence in life.
Who can apply?
Uwenami Scholarship is open to any Kenyan child from any part of the country who is 5 to 18 years
The applicant must have obtained an approval to join the school or is currently attending the school
Must have obtained 250 marks out of the possible 500 marks in Kenya Certificate of Primary Education for those joining form one
Report forms containing their performance in the term preceding the application will be required for those in primary schools.
