BJF is a registered Kenyan organization founded and registered in 2017 as a public foundation that supports poor children, women and youth to actively participate in the development processes in their local communities

BJF works with the underserved and marginalized as its primary target and strives to build their civic competence and engagements in the development programs in their communities. Through knowledge development the poor and marginalized gain courage to initiate poverty alleviation efforts in a more sustainable ways.

BJF was formed by a group of friends from diverse professional backgrounds who were concerned by the level of poverty especially among women & youth. The organization is named after a German lady, Baerbel Jennert, by friends in Kenya and Germany as a celebration of her life and what she stood for
