WHO WE ARE
BJF is a registered Kenyan organization founded and registered in 2017 as a public foundation that supports poor children, women and youth to actively participate in the development processes in their local communities
BJF works with the underserved and marginalized as its primary target and strives to build their civic competence and engagements in the development programs in their communities. Through knowledge development the poor and marginalized gain courage to initiate poverty alleviation efforts in a more sustainable ways.
Baerbel Jennert Foundation, therefore, invests resources to rally the local communities on issues that affect their lives. Through these efforts, the local communities create gainful relationships with relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to improve their lives.
OUR HISTORY
BJF was formed in 2017 by a group of friends from diverse professional backgrounds but were concerned by the level of poverty especially among poor women, youth and children
The organization is named after a German lady called Baerbel Jennert who is the mother to Robert Jennert. The late Baerbel had planned to attend the wedding of his son Robert to Mercy Achieng from Rarieda of Siaya County. This was not to be as Ms Jennert died a few days to her son’s wedding
This unfortunate event prompted the friends both in Kenya and Germany to name the organization after the lady as a celebration of her life and what she stood for
