EDUCATION & SCHOLARSHIPS
UWENAMI SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Uwenami, meaning “Stay with me,” is a partial scholarship fund established in 2018 by the Baerbel Jennert Foundation in Kenya. It supports bright and talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them continue their education despite financial hardship.
For families facing financial hardship, the cost of education can put a child’s future at risk. Tuition fees and course materials can make it difficult for children to continue their education, regardless of their ability or motivation.
The fund provides partial scholarships towards tuition fees and learning materials. This eases the financial pressure on families and gives students the opportunity to develop their talents and build a foundation for their future.
SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
YOUTH HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM
Young people need reliable information and opportunities to ask questions about their health, bodies and relationships.
Through interactive workshops, our sexual and reproductive health programme provides age-appropriate education to help adolescents understand their rights and make informed decisions.
The workshops combine practical learning, group discussions and opportunities to ask questions. Topics include reproductive health, family planning, HIV prevention, respectful relationships and the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence.
We also involve parents and teachers in workshops to strengthen their understanding and encourage supportive conversations at home and in school. This helps young people recognise when and where to seek support
LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT
KUKU EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
A more reliable income can help families afford food, education and other everyday needs. Our poultry programme supports women and caregivers in building a source of income through raising chickens and selling eggs and poultry.
Alongside the chicken, our approach includes practical guidance on poultry care, business skills and managing money. Community savings groups are a key part of the program. Through weekly meetings, parents save together and can access loans from the group’s pooled funds to invest in small businesses or meet household needs. Members learn to plan expenses, manage repayments and support one another, building both financial skills and a network they can rely on.
By combining poultry farming with savings and financial education, the program helps families strengthen their income and prepare for future expenses
AGRICULTURE & ENTERPRISE
AGRIPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM
Our agripreneurship program helps people turn agricultural activities into a source of food and income for their families. By connecting agriculture with business skills, we support participants in developing small businesses that strengthen livelihoods within their communities.
The program encourages participants to identify opportunities, plan their activities and make effective use of available resources.
Our aim is to help families improve their food security and build a more reliable income through agriculture
